More information can also be found at GSA's website: https://marketplace.gsafleet.gov/sales/landing
It is highly suggested that you thoroughly read GSA's Terms & Conditions before registering or attending a GSA sale. Once registered, you will have entered into a contractual agreement between you and the federal government, and therefore will be held liable by the Federal Government for any misuse of GSA's vehicle auctions. Be an educated buyer, learn what you can and cannot do to ensure a pleasant auction experience.
A transaction privilege tax will be applicable to all sales unless a current resale license is supplied. Tax is not included in the bid price.
24.REQUIREMENTS TO COMPLY WITH APPLICABLE LAWS AND
REGULATIONS: This clause of the SF-114C is supplemented with the following:
The buyer of property from the U.S. Government purchased through a
contracted Auction House may be subject to state and/or local use tax. The U.S.
Government is not responsible for collection of state and/or local use taxes.
Sales and/or use tax officials are permitted to examine records of Federal
personal property sales to determine tax liability. Sales tax, where applicable,
will be collected by the GSA Fleet contracted auction house, or the Department
of Motor Vehicles when/where the vehicle is being registered. It is the
purchaser’s responsibility to determine applicability.
If you sign up to bid online, you can also see an interactive list of GSA vehicles, that is updated hourly. (Available one week before the sale date.)
PUBLIC INDIVIDUALS AND BUSINESSES
All internet sales bidders must register at the following website: https://marketplace.gsafleet.gove/sales/register. For Live Sales, all public buyers must register at Metro Auto Auction before bidding on vehicles. Bidders must be 18 years or older to attend or bid and provide a valid Social Security or Taxpayer ID number, and must not be in debt on any surplus property purchased from the U.S. Government. Businesses attending the GSA Sale in person at our facility, you must register before the start of the sale. It is suggested to register no later than the Friday prior to the GSA Sale date in order to avoid long lines and delays.
LICENSED AUTO DEALERS
Please log on or create an account. The public/GSA simulcast portal is intended for un-licensed individuals only, and requires different tax and payment methods. For licensed auto dealers, registering or logging on at our dealer site is much more convenient, as it is set up with Auction Access, and allows floor planning, and alternative methods for transactions, and many more options.
*NOTE* attending the GSA sale online requires that you register with and pay for any transactions via credit or debit card. These are the only two forms of payment allowed for the GSA sale from the public. Recent changes to GSA's requirements lowers the credit and debit card transaction limit to $24,999.99 per card per day, and will reject any transactions that exceed this limit.
